Butter London - The Black Knight - US Ltd Ed

Nails I Love

BUTTER LONDON – The Black Knight

Hi Goddesses

It’s been a BAAAAAAADDDD day in CrumpetLand.  I am in a bit of a foul mood.  I have been agitated by all sorts of nimcompoops and now I get home and find that the cauldron of soup I made last night has gone off.  Marvellous.

Arrrggghhh.  So let me distract myself with this, The Black Knight, which was pretty much love at first sight when I saw the promo pics.  Purpley and glittery??  Hello!  Annoyingly, this is only available in the US, so I had to rely on a lovely friend to acquire it for me.

She finally arrived at the weekend, and she was the first of this weekend’s nail mail to make it to my nails and, well, I’m a little torn.  She’s beautiful, but do I love her ?  I’m not sure.

Firstly, she’s not as purple as I thought.  All her crazy glitter sits in a black jelly base, and I think this one thing makes all the difference in the world for me.  Just changing that base colour would have quadrupled the magic factor instantly.

When I say this is rammed with glitter, I mean, this is RAMMED with glitter.  There is tiny dazzle dust of all sorts of colours – pink and blue mainly – and thanks to my coat of Gelous and Poshe, this sparkles and dances in the light like Christmas fairy lights.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a gorgeous polish.  It’s dark, it’s decadent, it’s playful.  But would I want to wear it every day of my life ?  No.  Which is a weird position to be in.  I TOTALLY get this polish, understand it, respect it – but do I feel connected to it?  No.  Haunted by it ?  No.  Hypnotised?  Only a little.

Maybe I am getting too fussy in my old age, or maybe it’s cos I’ve had a BAAAAAAAAADDDDD day, I don’t know, but there’s some disconnect for me somewhere.  Pretty, dangerous and slinky though this is, I can’t see myself wearing this to death.

So, for once, I am going to reserve judgement.  For now, applaud her beauty, and then later, I’ll decide whether she gets to stay.   I am now off to be a Grumpy Crumpy, I sincerely hope you’ve had a better day J

Enjoy J  xx

Ooooh, almost forgot.  Have you noticed how bright lighted the photos are ?  It’s dark and dull over here, so how have I managed that ?  Well it turns out that the light in the utility room is BRIGHT WHITE and makes for marvellous photos ?  Who knew ?  I barely know what goes on in that room, but there sure is going to be a lot of photo-ing from now on J

oh and PPS, I managed to file all my silk wrap and nail glue off my finger - it's now JUST on the nail!  Yayy !!!

J

Top Tip – if you’re ever unsure what a nail colour looks like, go to Google images, which will give you plenty of contrasts and compares.

  1. I loved this one but I knew it was black so I didn't have the chance to be surprised! lol...I had the same feeling about No More Waity Katie though. It looked and sounded so beautiful and when I got it I was sorely disappointed in it. I guess that's how it sometimes goes!

  2. I know what you mean - it's kind of how I feel about Facets of Fuschia - I wish it had a purple jelly instead of black jelly base. I sincerely hope you have a better day!
