Hi Goddesses
Ooooh, I think today has been a tricky one for a lot of people. Inspired By Your Childhood - memories, adventures, school, toys?
All along I knew I wanted to pay homage to my childhood teddy bear, Rosebud. Executing said mani was not as easy, and this is version 2 (version 1 was so bad I didn't even take photos lol).
I don't have a photo of Rosebud, but he was my loyal companion between the ages of 3 and about 7 or 8. As an only child, my cuddly toys were especially important, and Rosebud was bought on holiday. He was slightly larger than other teddies I owned, had VERY fluffy eyelashes, and a blue flower on his belly button - hence the name.
I remember him being quiet matted (I probably drooled on him every night), and so a textured base was my starting point. Version 1 had a saran wrap, but I couldn't get the colour contrast right, but then Nails Inc Concrete arrived and - ta-dah!
I'll be showing you the Concretes very soon. This is the hideous yellow one, and I painted over it with OPI Did You Ear About Van Gogh ? What's interesting about the Concretes is how they retain their texture despite layering.
I then used my blue dried flowers from eBay to recreate Rosebud's belly button :)
Aaaaaand we're into the last week of the Challenge! See you tomorrow xx :)

You actually managed to make this polish look amazing! Not a fan but it looks great on you! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw it I was like whoa that looks like concrete, and it is concrete (kind of) haha. I love it, I should have done my teddy bear - his name was Teddy and he was a big red bear! I still have him :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a Lovely inspiration! Indeed todays Challenge was quite hard to get inspired for.x
ReplyDeleteI don't think I like the concrete polish so much but I have to say this mani looks great. I love the wall-texture with the flowers on it. Makes me think of some special places I have been to...
ReplyDeleteNaturally, I find it hard to relate it to a teddy bear, and a fluffy one especially, but since I never met Rosebud, I would never really know. I think it's a beautiful tribute!
very cool! i didnt know about these concretes but im gonna have to check them out now. i happen to like these hideous types of colors!
ReplyDeleteOh i really like the colour scheme of the mani, not sure about the concrete effect though...
ReplyDeleteWould you mind sharing a link to the seller where you got those flowers, they are lovely!
xx
Thanks Deni. I bought them in August, so can't see the link anymore, but all the ones on eBay are identical. Just search for "nail art wheel flowers" and you should get a nice selection xxx
DeleteThis is sooo adorable! I can't wait to see your swatches of the concretes!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about your review!! I love the look of this mani!! Perfect!!
